Which Hindu Deity Are You? — Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, or Durga

Discover which Hindu deity archetype matches your nature — the Creator, the Preserver, the Transformer, or the Warrior Goddess.

Hinduism's 330 million deities are not separate gods competing for worship — they are facets of one ultimate reality (Brahman), each embodying a different aspect of existence. The four archetypes in this quiz represent the most fundamental forces: creation, preservation, transformation, and fierce protection.

The Four Archetypes

Brahma — The Creator

Brahma is the four-faced god of creation — the original architect of the universe. In psychological terms, Brahma represents the generative mind: the person who sees potential where others see blank space. Paradoxically, Brahma is the least worshipped of the Trimurti in temples, perhaps because creation is taken for granted. His consort is Saraswati, goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts.

Vishnu — The Preserver

Vishnu is the blue-skinned god who rests on the cosmic serpent Shesha and descends to Earth as avatars when the world needs saving — most famously as Rama and Krishna. He represents the force that maintains balance, protects dharma, and sustains life. Vaishnavism — devotion to Vishnu — is one of Hinduism's largest traditions, with hundreds of millions of followers. His consort is Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity.

Shiva — The Transformer

Shiva is the paradoxical god of destruction and liberation — destroyer of the old, maker of space for the new. He meditates in cremation grounds, dances the Tandava (the cosmic dance of creation and destruction), and is simultaneously the patron of ascetics and the most intense romantic. In Shaivism — another of Hinduism's major traditions — Shiva is the supreme being. His consort is Parvati (and in fiercer form, Kali).

Durga — The Invincible

Durga was created when the combined power of all the gods could not defeat the buffalo demon Mahishasura — so they channeled their energy into a single warrior goddess. Riding a lion and wielding weapons in her ten arms, Durga embodies Shakti — divine feminine power. She is celebrated during Navratri (nine nights of worship) and is among India's most beloved deities.

The Trimurti: Brahma (Creator) + Vishnu (Preserver) + Shiva (Destroyer) = the Hindu trinity governing the cosmic cycle of existence. Similar to birth, life, and death — but on a universal scale.
